Eight children enrolled after a conversation in Chital

A field visit to labour families in Chital that ended with six children into Anganwadi and two into school.

Chital, Amreli

Field facilitator Mehul Pandya visited labour families in Chital to talk about child labour. The conversation turned up what these visits usually turn up: the children in those households were not getting an education.

The discussion moved to what children are entitled to. Then the parents asked the question that matters — what do we actually have to do to get them into school?

Mehul Pandya and Rasik Goraswa, education facilitator at LAMP, went through the process with them. Once the parents were ready, the school began admissions: six children into Anganwadi, two into school.
