About us
Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and what we never do with it.
Hariraj Charitable Trust is grateful to all its supporters, including those who contribute time, material or money to help us continue doing our work.
We maintain strict donor privacy to protect the integrity and privacy of personal information gathered from our supporters and visitors, through all of our communication channels, and from visitors to our website and those who donate through it.
We do not sell, exchange or rent your personal information to any organisation or individual. We will not pass personal information to anyone else beyond what is necessary to transact, fulfil and account for a donation you have authorised.
We will only use your phone number and email address if we need to verify information, or to thank you for your contribution, ask your opinion, request your assistance, or invite you to an event.
What information we collect
When you make a donation, attend an event or volunteer with us, we may ask for your name, address, email address, phone number and other relevant information.
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. There is no tracking script, no advertising pixel and no third-party embed on these pages, so we collect nothing at all from you simply for reading the site. We do not know who visits, how many of you there are, or which pages you read.
The only information we hold about you is what you have typed into a form and sent us, or given us in person.
How we use it
We use the personal information you provide about yourself:
- To process your donation
- To send you a receipt for your donation
- To thank you for your donation or your volunteering
- To respond to your questions or comments about Hariraj Charitable Trust
- To send you further information about our projects
- To invite you to events that may interest you
We may share aggregate figures — how many people attended an event, how many volunteered, an average donation amount — with sponsors and partners. These never include anything that identifies a person.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Cash donations to Hariraj Charitable Trust are eligible for deduction under section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961. We are also FCRA certified to receive foreign currency funds.
To claim the exemption, keep your donation receipt as your official record. The receipt is sent to the email address you give when donating, as soon as the donation is processed.
Refunds
Refunds will be considered for unintended donations. Email hi@hariraj.org stating the reason for the request. You will also need to send the original receipt you received from us to our office address.
Card security
When you donate online, your card information is secured. Your card number is used only for that transaction and is not stored by us.
If you choose to let us store card or bank details for a recurring donation, those details are held by the payment provider’s financial institution, not by us. We only use providers that follow industry standards for storing such information.
Online donations are handled over industry-standard TLS, so the connection between your browser and the payment page is encrypted.
Opting out
You can opt out of email updates using the unsubscribe link at the foot of any email we send, or by contacting us directly.
Other websites
This site links to other websites — including Google Drive, where our monthly reports and some of our audited accounts are hosted, and our payment provider. Those sites may collect information about you, and we cannot vouch for their privacy practices or accept responsibility for them.
Changes and contact
By using this website, or by providing information through it, you consent to the collection and use of that information in accordance with this policy.
For any question about this policy, or to correct or update personal information we hold about you, email hi@hariraj.org.
We may change this policy. Please review it from time to time.
